According to Diamond these are the most successful comic books, graphic novel and trade paperbacks!!!!! I don't think there any surprises really, its all pretty obvious!

Image Comics also had a great year with The Walking Dead Volume 1 being the best-selling graphic novel of 2010, with four other volumes of The Walking Dead taking up spots on the top ten graphic novel list. The AMC's drama series obviously had something to do with this.

"Red Lanterns" New ongoing title for DC!!!!!!!

Well Geoff Johns is at it again..... again. Every single Green Lantern fan that has followed Johns run religiously will weep for joy for this new ongoing title from DC's rage-aholics "Red Lanterns". Peter Milligan will have writing duties but no artist has been announced as of yet, this book is schedule to come out with the green Lantern movie. The book will touch on Atrocitus and how his rage has stayed with him since his planets destruction until now; also we'll learn where the other red lanterns missions are affecting DC's cosmic characters. So make sure to pick up this book and attend anger management this spring!!!!!

Ultimate Doom #1

I must begin by saying I know very little of the Ultimate Universe. I have read a dozen or so issues of Ultimate Spider-Man, and that is it. Everything I know about the Ultimate versions of the X-men, FF and Avengers I’ve learned by skimming Wikipedia throughout the years and casting one, some-what interested eye towards the Ultimatum events; now onto the issue.

The Ultimate Universe is very new to me, and I had no idea what preceded the events of this issue before being asked to review it, and (perhaps against my better judgement) I decided not to scour the internet trying to learn 10 years of Ultimate Universe history before reading this one issue... And my decision didn’t turn out all that bad.

Though I don’t know the characters, or their histories, I instantly notice the little (or large) differences in them in this Ultimate universe and that in itself is interesting. The story begins (potential spoiler alert) with Sue Storm discovering that a recent, massive attack is the doing of Reed Richards, who has always been one of the good guys. Like I said, I don’t know what has happened in the universe prior, and while that may diminish the ‘shock-value’ of the issue for me, it certainly didn’t diminish the entertainment. Bendis’ writing is as good as ever, and the dramatics are set in among great pacing and art. The issue begins with shock value, and ends with a cliffhanger. On its own: a great single comic. In the Ultimate universe: I’m not sure. Time to fire up Wikipedia and do some research.

Bendis is a great storyteller and I like the majority of what he does. Secondly, I am very biased towards “what if?...” and re-imaging stuff: I love it. Bullet Points is one of my favourite stand-alone arcs. So if you are like me and enjoy the bizzaro versions of characters outside of the 616, then grab this issue. It might not be the best starting point for delving into the Ultimate universe, but it’s certainly a good comic.

New Editor in Chief at Marvel

The Joe Quesada era is ending at Marvel. Axel Alonso has been promoted to the position of Editor in Chief while Quesada will concentrate on being Marvel's 'chief creative officer'. Hard to say what effect this will have on Marvel comics. Alonso has the reputation of being 'edgier'. One thing I do know is that Quesada made a huge mark on the industry, and is probably more responsible then any other person for the way Marvel looks today.

Fables Volume 4 – March of the Wooden Soldiers

So far we have seen Fabletown suffer through a violent, but-not-quite-catastrophic insurrection up at the Farm, as well as internal dissent on the part of Goldilocks and Bluebeard, but with this fourth volume, March of the Wooden Soldiers, Fabletown gets its first real threat: an attack from the Adversary himself! Still unsure of who, or what exactly, the Adversary is, the residents of Fabletown are about to find out the hard way.

Volume 4 begins with the triple-long one-shot The Last Castle, which is a great back-story tale told from the point of view of Boy Blue, as he recites his part in the final (known) standoff with the Adversary before Bluebeard’s last ship sailed to the new world of America. It shows a few familiar faces, including Robin of Locksley, and explains how the Last Castle stood as long as it did against the Adversary’s armies. Boy Blue also finds love in the form of Red Riding Hood, but of course not all that is well ends well. After recounting this tragic tale, one can understand why Boy Blue only ever plays the blues on his horn.

The rest of the volume is the 5-part story March of the Wooden Soldiers. On a personal note, this is one of my favourite Fables arcs to date. It’s got espionage, intrigue and a ton of action. Amidst Snow White’s pregnancy and the impending Mayoral elections between Prince Charming and King Cole, a whole slew of commotion arrives to Fabletown in the form of: Red Riding Hood! The first survivor from the homelands in over a century, and Boy Blue can’t believe his eyes! Though neither can Bigby, and if it’s too good to be true, it usually is. Meanwhile, Jack is up to his old tricks again when he tries to convince Bigby and Snow that he was mugged by three seedy-looking trenchcoat-clad men. They dismiss his story, but maybe this is a case of the boy that cried wolf (who, as Jack points out, lives up on the 7^th floor), and trouble really has come.

The Sheriff doesn’t buy Red’s story, and sets off to further investigate the logistics of her arrival, whilst the rest of Fabletown discovers that the trenchcoat men aren’t ‘real’ men at all, and they’re not alone; if they’re made of wood, what does that mean for Pinnochio?

Once again, Willingham dishes out an amazing story that draws us further into his darkly charming fairytale world. Is this attack the end of Fabletown? Of course it isn’t, but damage will be caused and not everyone is going to be left standing. Volume 4 sets large groundwork for some of the main characters that has lasted through the series to this day, and is a stupendous story to boot.
